Professional Development

I pioneered Parental Identity Discovery™ to provide a cohesive, integrated protocol dedicated to the Non-Paternal Event (NPE) population, those who discover secret, falsified or misled parentage often through at-home DNA testing. A unique and growing subpopulation to grief and trauma, NPE have specific needs not often met in a single mental health professional.

PID is a thoughtfully integrated system of grief, trauma and family systems work with heavy focus on identity and resiliency. The objective of PID is to help NPE clients assimilate the unwanted changes in their identity, mood and family dynamics, increasing coping skills and self-actualization.

As an NPE myself, I experienced the profound struggle with identity, grief and family dynamics personally. Using my professional skills as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist I have developed this training to help other mental health professionals expand their understanding and empathy for a new and misunderstood population.

Parental Identity Discovery™ will be offered as a 3 unit CEU course: pending approval from CAMFT and APA credentialing bodies.
